3-INGREDIENT SALAMI ROLL-UPS
Some appetizers earn a permanent place in the recipe box simply because they’re easy, dependable, and everyone actually eats them. These 3-Ingredient Salami Roll-Upscheck every one of those boxes. With slices of savory salami, smooth cream cheese, and tangy banana peppers, they have far more flavor than you’d expect from such a short ingredient list.
I especially like these when I need something I can prepare before everyone arrives. There’s no oven to turn on and no last-minute cooking. Roll them up, let them chill, slice them into little pinwheels, and they’re ready for the serving platter.
The combination is simple but surprisingly good. Salami brings that salty, savory bite, cream cheese softens everything with its cool richness, and chopped banana peppers add just enough tang to keep the filling from feeling heavy.
They’re right at home on a game-day spread, holiday appetizer tray, or casual snack board. I’ve found they’re also handy when you need one more appetizer but don’t want another recipe competing for oven space.
WHY THESE SALAMI ROLL-UPS ALWAYS DISAPPEAR
The first thing I notice is how well the three ingredients balance each other. Salami is bold and savory, cream cheese is mild and creamy, and banana peppers cut through all that richness with a bright, slightly tangy flavor.
Then there’s the texture. Once the rolls have been properly chilled, you get neat little spirals with layers of thin salami wrapped around a thick, creamy center.
They’re also genuinely easy to prepare. There’s no cooking involved, and you don’t need any special equipment beyond a cutting board, knife, and a little plastic wrap.
For entertaining, that simplicity is hard to beat. I can make the rolls several hours ahead, leave them chilling in the refrigerator, and slice them shortly before serving.
Ingredients
- 24 slices salami
- 4 ounces cream cheese softened
- ½ cup banana peppers finely chopped and well drained
Instructions
- Lay 12 salami slices on a sheet of plastic wrap, slightly overlapping them to form a rectangle.
- Spread 2 ounces of the softened cream cheese evenly over the salami, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle ¼ cup of the chopped banana peppers evenly over the cream cheese.
- Starting from one long side, roll the layered salami up firmly into a tight log. Wrap securely with the plastic wrap.
- Repeat with the remaining 12 salami slices, cream cheese, and banana peppers to make a second roll.
- Refrigerate both rolls for at least 1 hour, or until firm enough to slice cleanly.
- Unwrap and cut each chilled roll into bite-size pinwheels using a sharp knife.
- Arrange the salami roll-ups on a serving plate and serve chilled.
