These healthy green bean fries are SO delicious that you’ll never suspect they are gluten-free, dairy-free and paleo! They are the perfect appetizer or side dish idea.
It is the time of year when garden harvests are plentiful and we have been blessed to be on the receiving end of those harvests! These green bean fries are my absolute favorite creative way to cook up green beans! They are SO incredibly delicious that I could eat them every night. You’d never guess that they are healthy and guilt-free! Serve them up as a side dish or a yummy appetizer. Either way, we are sure you won’t have any leftovers (we never do!). These will even please the kids!
We love whipping these up in our air fryer for a healthier alternative to deep-fried green bean fries. If you like this recipe then you’ll love my air fryer chicken strips recipe that is also gluten-free and so yummy! My kids LOVE these!
HOW TO MAKE GREEN BEAN FRIES
Green bean fries are super easy to make and while this recipe uses an air fryer, you can also bake them in the oven! There is no reason not to make green bean fries! They are easy, healthy and delicious.
For our recipe, which is gluten-free and dairy-free, we use almond flour in place of breadcrumbs which is what is traditionally used. If you don’t want to go the healthy route, feel free to substitute bread crumbs for the almond flour.
I also use my own homemade ranch dressing mix in place of store-bought. It’s so much better and it’s dairy-free and lasts a long time! Use it in place of store-bought and you can also make ranch dressing with it.
Wash and pat dry the green beans. You can trim the ends if you wish, but I never do! They taste fine with the ends on. Dip each green bean in the beaten egg to coat it.
Then, dip the egg-coated green bean in the almond flour mixture and coat it.
HOW TO MAKE GREEN BEAN FRIES IN THE AIR FRYER
Preheat air fryer to 425 degrees F. Place prepared green beans in an air fryer. Repeat with all the green beans. Cook for 12-15 minutes in the air fryer or oven (or until crisp). You may also use the broiler to help crisp them if you are baking them in the oven.
HOW TO MAKE GREEN BEAN FRIES IN THE OVEN
Place prepared green bean fries on a greased baking sheet. You can spray the green bean fries with olive oil (using an olive oil mister) to help crisp them. Bake for 10 minutes and then flip the green bean fries and cook an additional five minutes or until crispy.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH GREEN BEAN FRIES
Serve green bean fries as an appetizer or a side dish. You can serve them with a dipping sauce of ranch dressing (we use my 21 day fix ranch dressing recipe) swirled with sriracha sauce. You could serve them with any dip that follows your diet!
HOW TO REHEAT GREEN BEAN FRIES
If you have any leftover green bean fries (and that is a big IF because we never do!) you can reheat them in the air fryer or oven preheated to 425 degrees F for 5-10 minutes or until crisp. Store any leftovers in the fridge in a container or bag with a paper towel in it (helps them to not get soggy).
