If you’ve ever sneaked a freshly fried Buñuelo from the stove, you know the joy and warmth they bring.

What Are Buñuelos? A delightful combination of simple ingredients—flour, baking powder, salt, water, oil, sugar, and cinnamon—transforms into a festive treat that’s adored by many. Whether it’s the specific method your family follows or a regional twist, variations abound throughout Mexico and Latin America.

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead for 2–3 minutes, then let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece very thin.
  5. Lightly spray both sides with cooking spray.
  6. Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  7. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and lightly sprinkle over the warm buñuelos.

WW: Approximately 2–3 Points per buñuelo, depending on the specific ingredients and amount of oil absorbed.
