Greek Ham and Cheese Pie(Zambonopita)

The word Zambonopita is kind of a mouthful, but the pie itself is definitely a delicious mouthful. It’s a simple Greek Ham and Cheese Pie that comes together in one bowl and is packed with protein as well as a ton of savory flavor. It’s the kind of quick bake that works well for breakfast or brunch, but is also perfect as an on-the-go snack or a simple lunch. It’s versatile, it’s tasty, and it’s so easy to make!

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 5 oz crumbled feta
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 1 cup sliced deli ham, chopped
PREPARATION
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and brush a 8×11-inch baking pan with 1 tablespoon of the melted butter. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, cottage cheese or yogurt, and milk.
  3. Add the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg and whisk to combine.
  4. Fold in feta, mozzarella, and ham, then transfer to prepared baking dish and smooth out with a rubber spatula. Drizzle with remaining melted butter.
  5. Bake until top is golden brown, about 45 minutes.
  6. Let cool 10 minutes, then slice, serve, and enjoy!
  7. If not serving immediately, store slices on a wire rack to prevent sogginess.
