The recipe could not be simpler. I used Low Calorie Jennie O Turkey Franks and my home made ZERO Points chili to make this delicious meal. With my chili, I cook up a bunch of it and freeze at least half, but in separate containers so I can take out a little at a time for situations just like this. You know, where you have a tasty baked potato or hot dog that needs some smothering!!
For fun, I cut up my dog and added some sauerkraut to the top, which adds ZERO points. It is also delicious with yellow mustard and dill pickles (if you prefer sweet pickles, you must add points)
Of course you can always add in a bun, but just also calculate the points. In the image above, I used a whole wheat hot dog bun and it added 3 points!
If you don’t have an Instant Pot yet, or if you are on the fence about one, BUY IT! They are amazing for quick and easy dinners. I use mine at least 2 times per week!
- 1 Package Jennie O 40% Less Fat Turkey Franks
- 1 Cup of water
- ZERO Point chili. See post above for recipe
Place hot dogs and water in Instant Pot
Turn to Steam for 3 Minutes
After cooking finishes, allow 10 minutes for hot dogs to simmer. (Remember, you are really just heating them up, as opposed to cooking them)
After the 10 minutes are up, quick release the pot
Smother hot dog in your home made ZERO point chili and enjoy
Should you want to add a bit more points to your meal, sprinkle a tbsp of sharp cheddar cheese on top just mind the points!! You can also add fat-free shredded cheddar and fat-free sour cream for ZERO Points!
